Thanks for stopping by! My name is Kady Oliker Eshleman and I’m the creator of Kippi the Conqueror. The series started as a way to begin the conversation about mental health and substantiating fears. When I was growing up, this was a taboo subject, something no one talked about, and my fears got swept under the rug. So I started creating books that didn’t just tell kids they were going to be fine. I wanted to open up the door to ask why they weren’t okay, and help them gather tools that they would be able to utilize later on to talk themselves through an anxious moment.
Her first adventure deals with the topic of losing a loved one. This was inspired by the loss of my own grandfather. I had a hard time coping and needed something concrete to hold onto. Thus the theory that the stars are actually portholes was born. With Kippi, your child will learn that even though our loved ones are no longer with us, they are always watching over us.
In Kippi’s newest adventure, she tackles monsters under the bed. Kippi discovers a staircase under her floorboards and heads off to meet her monster, Hubert. This book is about validating the fact that we all have nightmares, but teaches a child how to turn those bad dreams into something more manageable. This story was inspired by my cousin who used to tell me that if I left my hand hanging over the edge of the bed, something would come up and eat it.
